Visiting Paris

As the second largest city in Western Europe, Paris is a great place to visit,it's location straddling the banks of the river Seine make it a beautiful city to visit. BTW, I found a site about travel deals in Spanish: Ofertas de viajes. Renowned for its modern art and breathtaking scenery a short stay in Paris is the ideal location for a romantic weekend break, for most visitors, this is just enough time to see what it has to offer.

This city is also equally well known for its Gothic architecture and markets, plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system, the Metro underground system is easy to understand, efficient and reaches everywhere even the most enthusiastic tourist would want to visit.

You can't miss the Eiffel Tower, mainly because it̢۪s over three hundred meters high,it provides stunning views from the top and is visible throughout most of the city. At night, it comes alive with lights that have to be seen to be believed, guided tours are available where the patriotic tour guides give you an in depth history and an insight to what it is to be French

If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip,if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This avenue is well worth a visit to see how the wealthy live, the average tourist may find the accommodation expensive but more modest hotels can be found away from this area.

If you are an art lover you will enjoy the Louvre, a truly amazing museum,it contains almost a third of a million exhibits and is in fact one of the biggest art museums in the world. If you are in Paris on a short stay you must plan your time well, with the likes of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa to view in addition to some of the finest collections of art in the world. What makes Paris special is the number of artists that have been attracted to this great capital, painters like Monet and Picasso spent many years here and a large number of their art works can be seen in Paris today.

The famous 19th century edifice built on Napoleons instructions, the Arc de Triomphe, is also in Paris, the names of his generals engraved upon it to honor them and his troops. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed,it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.

Certainly it is not fair to believe that these are the only places in the city worth visiting, there are plenty of others to keep you occupied but to make the most of your time, use one of the guided tours. It's an unfortunate fact that a Paris short stay vacation will only include some of the attractions, the churches, cathedrals and other museums will just have to wait for another time.
